Zimbabwe's Electoral Commission has embarked on the verification process of presidential election results more than five weeks after the actual vote took place.
A first day of all-party talks kicked off in Harara on Thursday. The presidential candidates are to be given the opportunity to compare their vote tallies with the official results. This comes a day after electoral commission sources said Morgan Tsvangirai of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change had taken at least 47 percent of the vote but less than the 50 percent needed to avoid a run-off.
